Prince Harry has been urged to "take responsibility" for the Sentebale racism row by a royal expert. The 40-year-old founded Sentebale alongside Prince Seeiso of Lesotho in 2006. The pair revealed in a joint statement that they sided with the charity's trustees after they unanimously resigned a decision that left them "truly heartbroken".

It came after a row with the new chairwoman of the board, Dr Sophie Chandauke - who was appointed to the charity in 2023. Dr Chandauke was pictured alongside the Duke and Duchess of Sussex at the Royal Salute Polo Challenge in Florida in April 2024.

Dr Chandauk responded to the row with an explosive statement, where she appeared to take a thinly veiled swipe at Prince Harry for "playing the victim", as well as accusing the charity of racism, bullying and misogyny.

Responding to the row, royal expert Ingrid Seward told The Sun: "It's a complicated story, Harry and the Prince of Lesotho have been obliged to resign because they are patrons of this charity.

"The charity is in trouble, because the new chairperson has had altercations with the board of trustees and she's accusing them of misogyny. She's accusing them of racism.

"So it's very personal to Harry, and he was obviously advised by his lawyers just to stand down for the moment because he couldn't be embroiled in this kind of mess."

She urged Harry to "step up and fight" but to do so in private. He added: "Harry's just going to have to stand up and fight for it if he can. But he's going to have to do it behind the scenes. He can't do it in a public way, because she might even try to sue Harry and the Prince of Lesotho."

She added that Diana, like Harry, was "very shocked" by the incidents within many of her charitable organisations.
