A popular homeware store, part of an 80-strong portfolio across the UK, has announced it is shutting its doors for good in just a matter of days. The Homesense store in Stafford will wave goodbye to the high street on Monday (March 31).
However, if shoppers are quick, you can grab a bargain before it goes. The shop, situated at Unit 11a Queens Shopping Park, has launched a huge 30% off sale giving customers a final chance to shop their favourite homewhere items before the store closes. On Monday, Stafford shoppers looking for a great deal can go to their local Homesense store between 9am - 8pm for the final time.
Homesense is part of the same group as TK Maxx the department store chain.
Shoppers have taken to social media to share their disappointment at the sad news.
One Facebook user said: "That was a great shop. What next, another £1 shop?"
Another added: "I travel an hour, just to go to this shop. I'm literally devastated. There needs to be more Homesense stores not less!"
A third commented: "I was in complete shock and felt sad when I went on Wednesday. I absolutely love that shop and travel from Uttoxeter to shop there."
One more added: "I like to visit HomeSense to see their large range of Halloween and Christmas things. It is sad it will not be there anymore."
The store, known for selling designer homeware at discount prices, has been a firm favourite with locals. But despite its popularity, it won’t be sticking around.
This week has been particularly sad for the high street as just today WHSmith agreed to sell its UK high street chain to Modella Capital in a £76million deal, and will eventually rebrand most of its stores as TGJones.
WHSmith PLC said today it has agreed the sale of its high street business to Modella Capital, creating a "pure play global travel retailer".
The group's chief executive, Carl Cowling, said it will exclusively focus on travel and aim to become the leading global retailer. The high street business will "operate for a short transitional period under the WHSmith brand whilst the business rebrands as TGJones".
