We are currently in the fourth month of 2025, and so far, there has only been one bank holiday in England and Wales, which was New Year's Day.

Bank holidays are eagerly awaited by many who enjoy a day off from work or school and the next one will be here in just a fortnight. A four-day weekend will begin for many with Good Friday (April 18), which is a bank holiday.

Easter Monday, falling on April 21, is also a bank holiday. Additionally, there are two more bank holidays scheduled for May.

Just like last year, there are eight bank holidays in total for England and Wales in 2025.

This year, Easter is three weeks later than it was last year, so it might feel like a long wait for some much-needed time off, especially for those who get bank holidays off work.

The date of Easter is determined by the lunar calendar, as it falls on the first Sunday after the full Moon that occurs on or after the spring equinox.
