Morocco is a captivating travel destination that offers a blend of vibrant culture, stunning landscapes, and rich history. Situated at the crossroads of Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, Morocco has a unique charm influenced by Berber, Arab, and French cultures.

Some choose to explore ancient kasbahs, such as the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Benhaddou. Meanwhile, others visit Roman ruins at Volubilis or get scrubbed down in hammams.

However, there are six things one globe-trotter thinks you should know before you book a flight to hotspots like Marrakech, Fes or Tangier. They outlined the following tips...

1. Take physical money – According to the traveller, a lot of places only accept cash. So don't forget to visit an ATM or exchange some notes before visiting.

2. Don't forget travel documents – If you need to print out any boarding passes or information, do so before you travel. You can also visit tourist spots in Morocco to get this job done. 

3. Be careful in taxis – The tourist warned others to negotiate a price before getting into cabs. This should prevent you from getting ripped off by an over-inflated fare.

4. Think carefully about your itinerary – Morocco is a Muslim country, which means Friday is deemed a sacred day. Stay respectful and be mindful that some attractions could be shut on Fridays, when the holy day is observed.

5. Pick your accommodation wisely – the holidaymaker recommended swerving generic hotels in favour of staying at a riad instead. This was described as "one of the best experiences".

6. Don't forget about data – you probably don't want to be charged a fortune by your mobile phone provider, so consider buying an eSim or data card before jetting off.

Visiting Morocco

Travelling from the UK to Morocco by air is both convenient and affordable. There are frequent flights from hotspots like London Heathrow, London Gatwick and Manchester.

A variety of airlines offer the journey – including British Airways, EasyJet and Ryanair. The trip is likely to take you around three to four hours.

Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are ideal times to visit, with pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds.

You can also travel in winter (November to February), which is a great time for exploring coastal and desert regions, but expect cold nights in the mountains and Sahara.

However, it is extremely hot in the summer months of June, July and August. As it's the school holidays, it's likely to be busy and more expensive too.
