Easter is a time when many Brits come together around the dinner table with family. But many are now choosing instead to take the chance to escape abroad for a few days during the school holidays.

Online travel agent Opodo has now revealed travel insights from the Easter holidays, including the top destinations chosen by Brits. Their figures have revealed the top searched locations this year include Paris, Dubai and Bangkok, showing that travellers are keen both for city breaks and long-haul getaways.

The data shows 31% of bookings by Brits are for quick stays of 3-4 days, while 29% of bookings were for a much longer period of 7-13 days. In the other direction, Spanish travellers were the biggest visitor group to the UK over Easter, followed by Italian and German tourists.

The data also revealed that a number of destinations have seen strong growth among Brits looking to get away over Easter, with New Delhi seeing a 159% increase in interest from this country. India’s capital is home to around 34 million people, making it the largest city in the country and one of the biggest in the world. However, it is recognised as the most polluted capital in the world, regularly hit by toxic smog.

It is home to a number of historic sites and attractions including The National Museum. The city also boasts the India Gate, built in 1931 and inspired by the Arc de Triomphe in Paris as well as Gandhi Smriti, where Mahatma Gandhi spent the last months of his life and was assassinated in 1948.

Another growing hotspot for British travellers is Budapest, with the Hungarian capital up 105% in terms of interest from Brits. Close behind is Zurich, which has seen a 103% rise in interest from Britons looking to get away over Easter.

The most booked detination for Brits over Easter in 2025 is Amsterdam, which has taken the top spot two years in a row.

Malaga came in second place, having been seventh in 2024, at a time of year when the city is famous for its Easter processions through the streets and packed schedule of cultural and social events.

Barcelona remained the third most booked spot among Brits, famous for its iconic Sagrada Familia and lively shopping street Las Ramblas, as well as its beaches to soak up some holiday sun.
