Sarah, Duchess of York has shared a rare update on the late Queen’s corgis to mark National Pet Day. Taking to her Instagram account on Friday, Sarah, 65, uploaded new photographs of the corgis Muick and Sandy, along with some of her other beloved four-legged friends.

Prince Andrew’s ex-wife, who still lives at Royal Lodge in Windsor with the prince, has seven dogs in total and has praised them all for their companionship. She wrote on Instagram: “Happy International Pet Day to my seven sweet doggies! From their wagging tails and comforting cuddles, to the calming presence and loyal companionship they give every single day, life is simply brighter with these amazing furry friends by my side.”

Since uploading the photographs this morning, royal fans have praised the duchess for taking such good care of the corgis after Queen Elizabeth’s passing.

One fan wrote on Instagram: “Such beautiful family dogs, glad to see our queens dogs are happy and healthy.”

Another said: “Her Majesty chose you well to care for her little dogs.”

A third wrote: “Dogs are the best.”

Sarah is not the only royal to post a picture to mark National Pet Day today. Prince William and Princess Kate also took to social media this morning with a picture of their black cocker spaniel Orla.

The couple have had the dog since 2020, the same year their first beloved dog Lupo passed away.

Posting a photograph of Orla out in nature, the Prince and Princess of Wales wrote: “Celebrating the animals who bring so much joy, companionship and love to our lives this #NationalPetDay.”
