Air fryers sold in high street giants including Argos, B&M and Tesco have been hit with an urgent product recall as customers have been warned to ‘cease’ using them immediately if they own the appliances with the matching model numbers.
Tower Housewares has issued a notice on its website urging customers to stop using their air fryer if it matches one of the affected models it is recalling due to a fault which could ‘pose a risk of fire’. The air fryers, including 2.2L and 4L manual and digital models made between January 2022 and April 2023, have a manufacturing defect which could result in overheating and be a fire risk, Tower Air Fryers said in a notice on its website.
The firm said those who have an affected appliance should contact the company straight away. Customers will also be able to return their air fryer to wherever they bought it.
Tower Housewares said: “We have become aware that a small number of Tower Air Fryers have a manufacturing defect which may result in overheating that under certain circumstances could pose a risk of fire.
“We have become aware that a small number of Tower Air Fryers have a manufacturing defect which may result in overheating that under certain circumstances could pose a risk of fire.
“The issue has been identified within specific batches of the affected products manufactured between January 2022 – April 2023.”
It issued a list of air fryers which are subject to the recall. Check your air fryer to see if it matches any of these product numbers and names:
The Air Fryer models affected by the recall are;
• T17023 Tower 2.2Ltr Manual Air Fryer
• T17061BLK Tower 4Ltr Manual Air Fryer
• T17067 Tower 4Ltr Digital Air Fryer
• T17087 Tower 2Ltr Compact Manual Air Fryer
If you have one of the affected air fryers, you should stop using it ‘immediately’, the company says, and contact the firm via its website here.
It added: “Cease use and check whether you own one of the affected Air Fryer models. You can check this by accessing the model number on the appliance rating label.”
The recall has also been issued via the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) which sent out a notification about the products, which have also previously been sold in Asda, as well as Tesco, B&M and Argos.
