New data has revealed which airports have seen the most flights cancelled as Brits prepare to jet off for Easter breaks. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) figures highlight which airports and airlines offer the "best and worst odds" of getting customers to their holiday on time odds experts at NoDepositRewards say. They have drawn on last year’s Easter travel data from March to April, showing which airports and airlines "left travellers stranded and which offered a smoother ride".

“With two bank holidays on the horizon—Easter and early May—travellers need to know which hubs historically offer the smoothest routes," expert Mason Jones said. "Last year’s data shows some small or regional airports like Southend and Liverpool provide surprisingly reliable service, while bigger names can sometimes disappoint.” The site has issued three pieces of advice, including checking your airport’s track record. "If you have flexibility," it says, "consider airports with lower cancellation rates—especially during busy periods like Easter."

Travellers should also plan for contingencies, such as weather, staffing, and demand, which can all affect flights.

"Look up real-time updates and consider travel insurance," experts advise. They add that you should "know your rights". Under UK law, travellers are told, if your flight is significantly delayed or cancelled, you "may be entitled to compensation or a rebooked flight at no extra cost".

Data has suggested that the below are the "unluckiest" airports with the most cancellations, with specialists suggesting possible reasons for this.

Aberdeen Airport (4.46% of flights cancelled)

"Likely culprits" are "challenging weather and short-haul schedules prone to knock-on effects".

Teesside Airport (2.89%)

There are said to be "growth pains" as a result of "rapidly expanding with operations still smoothing out".

Belfast City Airport (2.75%)

"Regional impact" may be a factor, as the airport operates "mostly domestic routes". Yet "a significant number of cancellations" hamper Northern Ireland’s Easter travellers, experts say.

London City Airport (2.45%)

The site suggests there have been "business hub woes". It adds: "Despite its reputation for convenience, it’s had a higher-than-expected rate of cancellations".

Southampton Airport (2.36%)

There seems to be a "lack of faith", specialists say, as British Airways scrapped flights for summer 2025 from Southampton.

Meanwhile, Eastern Airways tops the “unluckiest” chart with 9.34% of flights cancelled. European carriers Austrian Airlines and Lufthansa also saw high percentages, experts say.

But, on the opposite end, major companies like Qatar Airways, Sun Express, Aegean Airlines, Iceland Air, and JetBlue all reportedly saw zero cancellations last Easter.
