Superstar Robbie Williams has worried fans with some late night ramblings on Instagram. The 51-year-old former Take That member shared his thoughts from 3am on Monday as he said that a thought "won't let him sleep".

Sharing a three pages of text to the image sharing social media platform, Robbie said that he was "surviving his own personality". He wrote: "Some days it's not self-improvement. It's self-containment. Just making sure the chaos doesn't spill on the carpet." The singer songwriter went on to explain that he wanted to "know himself completely" and understand the way that he thinks.

Robbie openly asked questions about what he expects from the world and what the world expects from him as he thought about setting boundaries in his life. He worryingly added: "Seeing as I have something inside me that wants to sabotage, cause chaos - and, even darker still, see me leave this planet."

His wall of text continued as he said that life lessons can be "hellish" as he wondered if he was "good enough" to go to "the next place". He continued: "First thing I notice: I treat myself really badly. If anything, right now, I guess the answer is love. And with that... I've just had a revelation. I've got some work to do."

Some of the star's 3.3million Instagram followers rushed to support him, with one commenting: "You wrote a song Love My Life, Rob you need this as your mantra you have to love yourself cause you are beautiful, praise yourself, compliment yourself and a change will start to happen those wolves will quieten and not appear as often love starts with you believe in it & yourself."

Another added: "What a deep thinkling, Rob. Making me worried about you." A third said: "Please learn to love yourself. You have done so much in your life what you can be proud of!"

The worrying post comes after Robbie revealed that he recently experienced his first bout of depression in a decade. Speaking to The Mirror, he said: "The year started with some ill mental health, which I haven’t had for a very, very long time. I was sad, I was anxious, I was depressed."

He said the return of depression had been especially hard to deal with as he thought he had addressed it: “It’s been about 10 years... I thought I was at the other end of the arc. I thought this was the end of my story, and that I would just go walking into this marvellous wonderland. So for it to return was just confusing.”

Robbie's most recent dark spell seems to have started after revealing that his mum, Janet, had been diagnosed with dementia back in November. The diagnosis comes four years after the singer revealed his dad Pete had Parkinson's.

Speaking about his film, Better Man, Robbie told HELLO!: "My mum's currently got dementia - like my nan in the film - and my dad's got Parkinsons and can't get out of bed. So I'm in a different part of my life right now."
