Katy Perry has reacted to a conspiracy theory online that she has a hidden identity. Some fans believe the pop star is actually a young girl who was found dead in her family's basement in Colorado in 1996. JonBenét Ramsey's tragic death was ruled a homocide, but the killer was never found.

Despite there being a whole investigation into the murder of the child, some people believe the girl's death was a hoax and that she is still alive - and is in fact Katy Perry. Conspiracy theorists first suggested that the singer was actually Patsy and John Ramsey's daughter back in 2014. Now this speculation is resurfacing after a Netflix documentary exploring the cold case of JonBenét's death came out in 2024.

Perry seems to have learned about the theory for the first time after seeing a video on social media where a photo of the six-year-old then morphs into an image of her, demonstrating their physical similarities.

According to Unilad, the shocked singer responded to the clip saying: "Wait am I?"

Although Katy and JonBenét might share some facial characteristics, there are several big flaws in the theory. One of them is that if the tragically murdered girl was still alive, she would be 35, whereas the Firework hitmaker turned 40 in October 2024.

John Ramsey was said to be hopeful that the Netflix documentary Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey would help authorities track down the killer.

JonBenét's disappearance was first reported to the police when her horrified mother discovered she was missing from her bedroom on Boxing Day, and found a ransom note that was left behind demanding $118,000 in exchange for her safe return.

Sadly, just hours later her father found her dead body in the basement. Both of her parents and her brother Burke were officially cleared of any involvement in her murder in 2008, according to NBC.

DNA was found on the child's body, but police were unable to determine who it came from. The killer is said to be a man in his 20s or 30s who was "infatuated with movies".
